First Friday Book Club

The First Friday Book Club is dedicated for 3rd to 7th graders or those of equivalent ages. It is held on the first Friday of every month at 1:00 p.m. in the Huntsville Public Library. For more information, please contact Children’s Coordinator Rachel McPhail at 936-291-5910.  

January - "Mrs. Frisby and the Rats of NIMH"

February - Bud, Not Buddy

Bud, Not Buddy by Christopher Paul Curtis is the 2000 Newberry Award book and the 2000 Coretta Scott King Award book.   Curtis’ book tells the story of ten-year-old Bud Caldwell, an orphan living through the Great Depression in Flint, Michigan.  Bud, Not Buddy is also February’s book for the First Friday Book Club at the Huntsville Public Library.  The Book Club will meet at 1 p.m. Friday, February 2, 2018 to discuss this fascinating story of family, forgiveness, and perseverance. March - A Wrinkle in Time by Madeleine L'engle

“The only way to cope with something deadly serious is to try to treat it a little lightly.”  Madeleine L’Engle’s award winning book A Wrinkle in Time discusses the timeless struggle between good and evil in a science fiction setting.
